2-Nitropropane is a clear, colorless liquid with a mild, fruity odor, that can cause acute liver damage (Borges et al., 2006). The primary routes of potential human exposure to 2-nitropropane are inhalation, ingestion, and skin contact.
This pathway is based on the biodegradation carried out by fungal organisms (Gorlatova et al., 1998).
