Neodymium is found with other lanthanoid elements in phosphate and fluoride
carbonate minerals. No biological role for neodymium is known. In the absence
of Ca2+, Nd3+ restored 43% of Bacillus subtilis
α-amylase activity (Smolka et al, 1971). Biosorption of Nd3+ by
Pseudomonas aeruginosa appeared to involve two types of binding sites (Philip et al,
2000).
